This fall, the Faculty of Education at UOttawa decided to formalize the requirement for all B.Ed. candidates to create a professional website. In this article, which I co-authored with Jessica Coleman who, at the time of data collection and writing was a B.Ed candidate herself, we document perspectives that informed the design of this programmatic requirement. The article will be useful to anyone thinking about how to create flexible, dynamic programmatic structures designed to scaffold teacher candidates’ professional digital literacies skills. Research on this initiative will be ongoing, but this article offers a first look at what we learned through the pilot phase of the initiative from 2015-2017.
